You found Château des Barrenques. A 15th century estate set in a six-hectare park, 40 minutes from Avignon, where you arrive down a long tree-lined avenue before the landscape opens up completely. The ceremony space sits in the shade of century-old plane trees, with Mont Ventoux on the horizon and lavender fields in between. Provence is not a backdrop here. It is a presence.
Now you need someone who understands how a wedding breathes in a place like this, and who can turn what you are about to live into a film that carries all of it forward.
That is what I do.
Being present, without being everywhere
What makes Barrenques exceptional on film is that the setting does something most venues cannot: it places the ceremony inside a landscape. The plane trees, the light filtering through old branches, Mont Ventoux in the distance. That combination gives the film a sense of place that goes beyond the wedding itself.
The dinner moves under string lights, entirely outdoors, with that particular south of France atmosphere that is relaxed and festive at the same time. Two distinct registers across the day, and that contrast gives the film room to breathe.
Present without interrupting
The weddings I have filmed at Barrenques have that quality you find at the best international celebrations: guests who have travelled to be there, and who bring a energy that stays high from the ceremony through to the last dance. The outdoor setting keeps everything open and fluid.
My job is to follow that without shaping it. No direction, no staging. The toasts under the string lights, the dancing in the warm air, the quiet moments between people who came a long way to be in the same place. I stay close enough to catch what is real, and far enough back to let it happen naturally.
Before filming, I listen
Planning a wedding in France from abroad means trusting people you have never met in person. I understand that.
Before anything else, we talk. Over a video call, properly. I want to understand who you are as a couple, what kind of celebration you are imagining, and what matters most to you about the day. That conversation shapes everything that comes after.
I speak English fluently and have worked with international teams many times at venues across Provence. Photographers, celebrants, planners, musicians from different countries. The coordination is smooth, the communication natural. You will not need to worry about that part.
Why Château des Barrenques works so well on film
There are very few venues in Provence where the landscape is genuinely part of the story rather than decoration. At Barrenques, Mont Ventoux and the lavender fields are in the frame whether you plan for them or not. That geography gives the film something to say about where this wedding happened, not just what happened at it.
Everything here is outdoors, which means natural light all day. No ballroom, no artificial ambiance. Just the estate, the sky, and whatever the evening brings. For documentary filmmaking, that is exactly the right conditions.
